Serere MP Warns Youth Against Unproductive Social Media Habits.
By Skika Reporter.
The Member of Parliament for Serere County, Emmanuel Omoding, has cautioned youth against engaging in unproductive social media activities and instead encouraged them to invest in cattle and poultry keeping as productive economic ventures.
Omoding made the remarks during the swearing-in party of Easter Lucy Achom held at City Royals in Kampala, where he attended as the invited guest.
He noted that many young people spend the little money they have on non-productive social media activities instead of investing in income-generating projects such as livestock and poultry farming.
Omoding explained that cattle rearing and poultry keeping come with several advantages, especially in improving household incomes and livelihoods.
He said dairy farming provides regular income through the sale of milk, while poultry farming offers earnings from eggs and poultry products, helping families meet daily household expenses and improve their standards of living.
The legislator further described cattle as a “living bank” for many farmers, noting that livestock can easily be sold during times of financial need, such as paying school fees or meeting medical expenses.
“As Members of Parliament for Serere District, we are going to work together with peace and unity to ensure we uplift the development of Serere District as one people and one voice,” Omoding said.
He also urged communities in Serere District and across the Teso sub-region to desist from political fights and instead promote unity for better development in their respective areas.
