Tororo Western Division Passes FY 2026/2027 Budget, Approves New Area Land Committee.

The Western Division Council has passed its Financial Year 2026/2027 budget in fulfilment of Section 82(4) of the Local Government Act 1997 as amended in 2021.

The division approved a budget of over Shs420 million aimed at improving service delivery across various departments.

Under the approved allocations, the Administration Department received Shs160 million, Finance was allocated Shs3.2 million, while the Local Council department received Shs44.7 million.

Production was allocated Shs5.9 million, Health Shs45.4 million, Education Shs8.9 million, Environment Shs1 million, Works Shs19.8 million, Community Based Services Shs11.8 million, Internal Audit Shs3.7 million, and Physical Planning Shs8.7 million.

Speaking during the council session, the Speaker of Western Division Council said the focus for the next financial year will be on effective service delivery, noting that the budgeting process was conducted through a bottom-up approach to capture the priorities of the people.

“We want the people to directly feel the impact of this budget through improved services. That is why we ensured the budgeting process involved views from the grassroots,” the Speaker said.

The LCIII Chairperson of Western Division, Al-Jamal Manyadi, urged technical officers to implement the budget as approved so that taxpayers can benefit from the resources collected by the government

“I call upon all technical officers to execute this budget to the dot so that taxpayers can enjoy value for their money,” Manyadi said.

Senior Assistant Town Clerk of Eastern Division, Martha Apimo, commended the division council for what she described as an organized and people-centered leadership approach.

She noted that the commitment and teamwork exhibited by the council had enabled the division to register significant achievements in service delivery and governance.

During the same sitting, the division council also vetted and approved new members of the Area Land Committee.

Odoi Patrick Olotaba was approved as the Chairperson of the Area Land Management Committee. Other approved members include Hifude Hamza, Malinga Sam Were, Namwiga Miamuna, and Stephen Okea.

While addressing the newly approved committee members, Division Chairperson Al-Jamal Manyadi urged them to carry out their duties with utmost transparency and professionalism to avoid unnecessary legal disputes.

“You must conduct your day-to-day activities with transparency and integrity in order to avoid attracting unnecessary legal battles,” Manyadi advised.
