First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Affairs Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga officially launches the Mama Kadaga Half Bursary Scheme at Jesda Schools under the Mama Kadaga Development Foundation in Tororo District.

The event, held yesterday-Saturday at Jesda Schools playground in Kayoro Subcounty, drew dignitaries including the General Manager of Simba Cement, cultural representatives from both Kwar Adhola and the Iteso Cultural Union, Tororo RDC, and local leaders.

Speaking at the launch, Kadaga called on parents, especially men, to take an active role in educating their children instead of leaving the responsibility to women.

She pledged full support for the bursary scheme, saying “a community’s best investment for future development is in educating the young generation.”

Kadaga also used the platform to task LC3 Chairpersons to closely monitor government programmes such as Emyooga and PDM to ensure they benefit the intended beneficiaries.

Tororo RDC Bateganya Sadik thanked Hon Kadaga for honoring the invitation and for “sowing seeds in education.”

He urged parents to make maximum use of the bursary by sending their children to school on time.

Jesda Schools Director Andera Betty appreciated Kadaga’s support and called on parents to enrol more learners at Jesda Schools for quality education.

The Mama Kadaga Half Bursary Scheme targets needy but bright students in Tororo District, covering 50% of school fees to increase access to  education.
