Iteso Cultural Union Reschedules Key Programmes to Focus on Strategic Priorities.

The Iteso Cultural Union (ICU) has announced the temporary rescheduling of several major cultural programmes as it shifts its focus towards strengthening institutional planning and advancing key strategic priorities.

According to a press release issued on Wednesday, the decision was reached following two strategic meetings chaired by His Royal Highness Papa Emorimor at the ICU headquarters in Soroti.

Among the activities affected are the Emaali Festival, the Ateker Caravan, the Iteso Cultural Model Fundraising Activity in Ngora, Emorimor sports activities, and other public mobilization programmes that the Union says are not immediately aligned with its current institutional agenda.

The ICU said the move is aimed at improving coordination, harmonizing its programme calendar, and ensuring that all activities contribute effectively to the Union’s long-term development goals.

“The affected activities are not cancelled permanently but will be rescheduled at an appropriate time once the institutional calendar has been fully harmonized,” the statement said, adding that new dates and implementation plans will be announced through the ICU’s official communication channels.

The cultural institution expressed appreciation to organizing committees, volunteers, sponsors, development partners, and supporters who had already committed time and resources toward the planned events.

ICU acknowledged that the postponement may disappoint many members of the Iteso community but appealed for patience, understanding, and continued solidarity during the ongoing institutional realignment.

In the meantime, the ICU said it will prioritize resource mobilization for the construction of the Ere Iteso Palace and preparations for the fourth coronation anniversary of His Royal Highness Papa Emorimor, which it described as a significant milestone in the history of the Iteso Cultural Institution.

The Union reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, unity, accountability, and inclusive participation, urging cultural leaders, development partners, well-wishers, and the wider Iteso community to remain united in supporting the institution’s long-term vision.
