Tororo District Disaster Management Team has delivered support to victims of the heavy wind that hit Tororo on Sunday, through Ambassador Phoebe Otaala at Aturukuku Primary School.

The team was headed by the District Chairperson Okeya John, together with the CAO, RDC, Town Clerk, Mayor, both East and Western Divisions Chairpersons, Local Council leaders and other well-wishers.

They provided lunch for over 322 families in the municipality who were affected by the disaster.

While delivering the support, Ambassador Phoebe Otaala called for more support from the Office of the Prime Minister to reach all the people.

“We thank the district team for coming together, but we need more support from the Office of the Prime Minister to reach all the affected families,” Amb. Phoebe said.

Nasige Grace, a victim and resident from Bision A, commended the district for the support as she narrated her ordeal. She said she lost iron sheets and her children suffered when the heavy wind affected Tororo on Sunday.

“I have lost iron sheets. My children have suffered. I have no food and other essential household items,” Nasige said.

Nasige called upon government for urgent support, saying victims lack food and other essential household items, including iron sheets for covering their houses.
