Soroti district RDC  Reassures Public on Security Ahead of January 15 Vote

The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Soroti District, Hajj Imran Muluga, has reassured residents of Soroti and the wider Teso sub-region of adequate security before, during, and after the upcoming voting exercise scheduled for January 15, 2025.

Hajj Muluga made the remarks yesterday while participating in a radio talk show on Voice of Teso Radio, alongside the Resident City Commissioner (RCC) for Soroti, Mr. Okurut John Michael.

The talk shows aimed at calming public fears, promoting civic participation, and encouraging peaceful conduct during the election period.

Speaking on the program, the RDC emphasized that government security agencies are fully prepared to maintain law and order throughout the electoral process.

He urged wananchi to turn out in large numbers to exercise their constitutional right to vote without fear or intimidation.

“The public should be assured that security is in place and will remain firm during and after voting. We encourage everyone to participate peacefully and responsibly,” Hajj Muluga said.

The leaders also used the platform to remind eligible voters to pick their voter locator slips from their respective parishes or designated polling stations in preparation for the polling day.

They stressed that having the slips will ease the voting process and minimize confusion on election day.

Additionally, both officials called upon political actors, candidates, and supporters to uphold harmony, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence throughout the election period, warning against acts that could disrupt peace and stability in the district.

The radio engagements form part of ongoing civic sensitization efforts by  security  leadership to ensure a peaceful, free, and credible electoral process in Soroti District , soroti City, and Teso subregion.
