Echodu, who reflected on his brief but meaningful time at the school, said he had previously hesitated to identify as an alumnus.

However, encouragement from fellow former students inspired him to embrace the connection and contribute to the school’s progress.

“Education remains a cornerstone of the NRM manifesto and a social contract with the people of Uganda,” Echodu said. “Institutions like Teso College Aloet must continue to thrive as centers of excellence.”
He commended the school’s administration, teachers, parents, and students for maintaining high standards and organizing an awards ceremony that celebrates academic achievement and discipline.

Representing the Ministry of Education and Sports, Pedo Raymond, a Principal Human Resource Officer, underscored the value of discipline and adherence to the school motto, “Serve and Obey.” He praised teachers for their dedication and highlighted the importance of support staff in sustaining the learning environment.

Meanwhile, Johnson Malinga of the Education Service Commission stressed that attitude plays a defining role in success.

He encouraged teachers to continuously adapt and grow, noting that modern education demands innovation and lifelong learning.

“Teachers are like signposts guiding learners,” Malinga said. “But they must also strive to reach the destination to inspire others.”
In her remarks, Juliet Atuhire Muzoora, Commissioner for Secondary Education, called on students to remain focused amid growing distractions.

She highlighted the importance of discipline, strong values, and responsible decision-making, particularly among young people navigating academic and social pressures.

“Do not lose direction. Guard your education—it is your life,” she said, urging students to aim higher and learn from today’s achievers.
Muzoora also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting schools through infrastructure, staffing, and resources, while emphasizing the need for unity among stakeholders.

The ceremony celebrated outstanding student performance and served as a rallying point for alumni and leaders to recommit to the school’s transformation.

Across all speeches, a common message emerged: restoring Teso College Aloet’s former glory will require discipline, collaboration, and sustained investment in education.
