The Chairperson of Soroti District, Bob Owiny, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fighting corruption and ensuring that residents fully benefit from government development programs.

Speaking to residents in Gweri Sub-county, Owiny emphasized that funds and resources under government initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, and cattle restocking programs are meant to directly benefit the intended beneficiaries without interference.

He warned that the district leadership will not tolerate any form of corruption, especially the practice of demanding money from beneficiaries in exchange for access to government services and programs.

Owiny urged residents to report individuals who solicit bribes or unlawfully interfere with the implementation of government programs, noting that such actions deny citizens the opportunity to improve their livelihoods.

He further cautioned that anyone found extorting money from beneficiaries or engaging in corrupt practices related to government programs will be arrested and prosecuted according to the law.

The district chairperson reiterated that government initiatives are designed to uplift communities and that every eligible resident should receive support without paying any illegal charges
