Tororo RDC commisions projects 70 million Works in Tororo Municipality.

The office of the Tororo District Resident commissioner has today commissioned two 5 stance VIP Pit latrines in Tororo munciplality.

The two commissioned pit latrines were constructed in Rock View school and Tororo College primary school to handle challenges arising from ever-increasing learner enrollment

The  two VIP latrines were constructed each at 38 million using the development fund initiated by the government of Uganda.

While commissioning the projects, the Tororo district assistant RDC Aidah Kigeni thanked the munciplal council for prioritizing learners’ health through constructing modern pit latrines

She asked the schools to take good care of the facilities so that they could serve the learners for a longer time.

Kigeni also used the opportunity to ask the team at the munciplality to put their house in order in case of any existing accountability gap to avoid being victims of the current corruption crack down in the country.

The Tororo munciplality education officer Teddy Ajuma Makola said the construction of these pit latrines fulfils the government’s desire for creating a conducive learning atmosphere for learners in schools.

The team comprising of political leaders sitting in the social services committee, technical staff, and the office of the RDC also monitored the ongoing works at Aturukuku Seed Secondary school and renovation of Rock View school Multi-purpose hall

The works at Aturukuku Seed Secondary school currently stand at 70%, and the phased work at Rock view school hall stands at 50%

The Tororo munciplality mayor Benerd Ochieng thanked the contractors for the timely delivery of work, which he says is now going to be a new normal at council

However, he was disappointed with the slow work pace at Aturukuku Seed Secondary school whose work stands at 70%, yet the contract is only left with two months.

He also tasked  CK Associates, the contractor working on the seed school, to consider paying their workers arrears that stretch for more than 5 months before he can take action against the company for exploiting the locals.

Samuel Falijal, Tororo assistant RDC, acknowledged that there is improved transparency in Tororo munciplality, not like in the past, where top leaders used to defend the wrong doings of contractors.

The mayor said the time for people at Tororo municipal council to defend and protect contractors is over. He emphasized that it’s now time to serve people of Tororo muncipality with integrity.

The Tororo munciplality senior assistant town clerk Christine Anyango assured the public that munciplal council will closely follow the works of CK Associates at Aturukuku Seed Secondary school to ensure that they complete the project in time so that learning business can commence at the school.
