Clinson Medical Center Targets 10,000 Eye Screenings in Three Years

Clinson Medical Center in Soroti has set a target of screening more than 10,000 people for eye complications across the Teso sub-region within the next three years, despite having been operational in Soroti for only two years.

Speaking during the end-of-year ceremony held at the facility on Saturday the 20th, the Chief Operations Officer, Jimmy Julius Mubiri, said the medical center was founded out of passion by its Director, Dr. Jane Agwaru.

Dr. Agwaru previously worked at Mulago National Referral Hospital and currently resides abroad.

Mubiri explained that although the facility initially focused on providing general health services such as outpatient care (OPD), laboratory services, pediatrics, and other medical services, management later identified a critical gap in eye care within the region.

He noted that for a long time, many residents of Teso had been forced to travel as far as Tororo to access eye care services.

As a result, the center expanded its services to include specialized eye care in order to meet the growing demand within the community.

Vincent Otet, an eye specialist at Clinson Medical Center, said the facility is well equipped with spectacles to correct all types of refractive errors.

He encouraged community members to seek regular eye checkups, emphasizing the importance of early detection and treatment of eye conditions.

Clinson Medical Center hopes that through increased community awareness and outreach, it will achieve its goal of improving eye health across the Teso region over the next three years.
