Four arrested in Tororo for impersonating state house anti-corruption unit officials.

The Tororo District Security Committee, led by the Office of the Resident District Commissioner, has arrested four people, 3 men and 1 woman, for allegedly impersonating lawyers from the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU)  in Tororo District.

The yet-to-be-identified suspects were arrested on Friday in Iyokango village, Nyangole Subcounty, Tororo District

According to security officials, they had gone to the area posing as SHACU lawyers to settle a land dispute between the family of Ben Kiwanuka and the family of the late Nyaketcho Agnes.

Tororo Deputy RDC Albert Amula said he was alerted by Olowo Martin, the district councillor of Nyangole Subcounty, after residents reported a team claiming to be from SHACU.

Preliminary findings indicate that one suspect confessed to being a pastor from Ebenezer Church in Mella Subcounty,

Amula thanked the councillor for reporting the matter and appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected imposters to the relevant authorities.

The suspects are currently detained at Tororo Central Police Station as investigations continue.

Police were yet to issue an official statement on the matter by press time
