The body of saidi Eteru

One person has been confirmed dead and three others sustained gunshot injuries following a violent confrontation at a trading centre in Ogongora Sub-county, Amuria District, on Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Saidi Eteru, a resident of Orungo, Aridi, and an alleged agent of National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer Teddy Anyuk.

Eteru was reportedly shot dead during clashes that erupted between rival political supporters.

According to eyewitnesses, the violence followed a prolonged confrontation between supporters of General Jeje Odongo and those backing Teddy Anyuk.


Tensions allegedly began when music systems from both political camps were played simultaneously at the trading centre, leading to heated verbal exchanges that later escalated into physical fights.

Residents say police were alerted but delayed in responding to the scene. As the situation worsened, General Jeje Odongo’s security detail was reportedly contacted to intervene. During the tense standoff, gunshots were fired, resulting in fatal and non-fatal injuries.

Amuria Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Paul Eseru confirmed the incident, stating that Saidi Eteru died from bullet wounds.


He added that three other individuals were injured and are currently receiving treatment for gunshot wounds at a hospital whose name was not immediately disclosed.

By the time of filing this report, police had not yet issued an official statement, and the exact circumstances surrounding.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing with multiple security agencies picking intrest.

Local leaders have called for calm as authorities work to establish responsibility and prevent further violence in the area.

Foreign affairs Minister and MP orungo county Hon  JJ Odongo is set to address the press on the incident, while our team of journalists is making efforts to reach out to Teddy Anyuk the NRM flagbearer Orungo county for a comment.
