Fallen World War Veteran Eulogised for His Generosity

Hundreds of mourners on Friday morning gathered in Bunghoma A village  busaba subcounty butaleja district to pay their last respects to fallen World War II veteran, Lekoboam Kiwujjo, during his vigil service.

The late Kiwujjo was widely praised for his generosity, love, and open-mindedness.

During the homily, the Head of Bunyole West Church of Uganda Archdeaconry, Ven. Joel Wafuho, represented by Rev. Patrick Bokere Tibemanya of Nalugunjo Parish described Kiwujjo as a hero who diligently educated his children and consistently supported the church.

Rev. Bokere urged parents to invest in their children to ensure the legacy while also cautioning children to remain supportive of their parents.

He condemned situations where spouses discourage support for elderly parents, emphasizing that parents in old age have the power to bless or curse their children.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Beatrice Kiwujjo said their late father was a unifier, open-minded, and deeply loving. She added that he educated many people beyond his immediate family.

Family friend and Butaleja District opinion leader Gershom Hirome noted that Mzee Kiwujjo died of old age and encouraged mourners to educate their children in order to leave behind a positive legacy.

Lekoboam Kiwujjo, who passed away on December 18, was a military officer who served during the Second World War, operating in Egypt.

He later underwent advanced military training at the prestigious Sandhurst Military Academy in the United Kingdom. He will be laid to rest on Saturday the 10th in Nahagulu-Bugombe village, Busaba Sub-county.
