Soroti Police Nabs fugitive Kichinjaji Murder Suspect.

After months of pursuit and intelligence-led operations, police in soroti City have arrested the prime suspect in the murder of a local leader that shocked residents of Usuku Cell in Soroti city division East.
Regional Police Commander for East Kyoga, ACP Ibrahim Saiga, confirmed that the main suspect in the killing of Omongole Hosseini Godi has been arrested and is now in custody.
The late Godi, who served as Defence Secretary of Usuku Cell, Kichinjaji Ward in Sorot City, was murdered on 27 October 2025.
His death sparked immediate investigations, with police swiftly responding to the scene and launching operations that led to the arrest and arraignment of several suspects.
However, the key suspect, identified as Gerald Oyu, went into hiding shortly after the incident. According to ACP Saiga, the suspect kept changing locations in a bid to evade arrest.
“Through sustained intelligence efforts, our teams were able to track him down and smoke him out of his hideout,” Saiga stated.
The suspect is currently detained and will face charges related to the ongoing murder investigations.
Police also disclosed that Oyu has other active criminal files, including allegations of defilement and illegal possession of opium, which are under separate investigations.
ACP Saiga reiterated the force’s commitment to ensuring that all individuals connected to the murder are brought before the courts, assuring the public that justice for the late Godi remains a priority.
