Father Who Killed Student Over Affair With Daughter Arrested

Security agencies have arrested a 41-year-old man in Gulu District in connection with the killing of 18-year-old student Martin Bukenya, an incident that shocked residents of Mabanda Cell in Gombe Division, Wakiso District.

The suspect, identified as Musasizi Herbert, was apprehended following coordinated efforts by security agencies after the fatal assault that occurred on February 14, 2026, at around 8pm at his residence in Mabanda Cell, Gombe Division, Nansana Municipality.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala, the suspect was tracked down and arrested in Gulu District.

“The suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue,” SP Kawala said.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Musasizi allegedly beat Bukenya to death after reportedly finding him inside his home with his 14-year-old daughter.

Bukenya, a student at Hillside Secondary School, was a resident of Kirinyabigo, Kawanda in Nabweru Division, Wakiso District.

Police said the arrest followed a coordinated operation by security agencies to trace the suspect after the incident. He is expected to be transferred to the appropriate jurisdiction to face murder charges once investigations are concluded.

The killing has sparked outrage among residents of Gombe Division, with community members calling for justice and urging parents to handle domestic disputes through lawful means.

SP Kawala appealed to the public to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information as detectives finalise inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the fatal assault.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
