Retired Tororo Kadhi Sheikh Asante donates food to Muslim Inmates.

In a show of solidarity and brotherhood  with them during the concluding holy month of Ramadhan, Sheikh Ibrahim Raganyi Asante, the retired Tororo District Kadhi on Thursday donated food items to fasting Muslim Inmates at Tororo government Prisons.

The food items included  150 kilograms of rice, 50kgs of sugar, 20 litre of cooking oil, and a box of washing soap.

Asante was warmly   received at the correction facility by Officer Opono Edward.

In his counselling message to the Muslim inmate leaders at the facility, Sheikh Asante told them being in prison is not a death sentence but rather  an opportunity to learn and reform where one went wrong.

” There is hope that you shall come out some day. But you should come out repentant and transformed.Dont revenge but rather forgive  those who  wronged you, ” Asante counselled.

He encouraged  them that they will come out successful after serving their term.

” Prophet Yusuf  in the Quran served his term in prison. But he instead came out a minister in charge food stores in the Kingdom, “he explained.

Sheikh Asante thanked the Tororo Prisons management  under the stewardship of the officer in charge Mr. Insobya Joseph for taking good care of the inmates who appeared strong and healthy.

He hailed the government and the prison authorities for giving the inmates the opportunity to practice their faith while serving.
