Mella Red Stars Retain Osia Catholic Parish Youths Apostolate Games and Sports Title.

St. Agnes Mella, popularly known as Mella Red Stars, successfully defended the Osia Catholic Parish Youths Apostolate Games and Sports football championship after defeating Poyawo 2-0 in the 2026 final held at St. Agnes Mella.

The victory confirmed Mella’s dominance in the annual faith-based youth tournament, having also won the inaugural edition in 2025.

Their back-to-back triumph further cemented their status as the powerhouse of youth sports within Osia Catholic Parish.

The Osia Catholic Parish Youths Apostolate Games and Sports is an annual initiative organized by Rev. Fr. Leonard Mark Musembi MSFS, the Youth Chaplain of Osia Catholic Parish, in partnership with the Parish Youth Leadership.

The program was launched in May 2025 to unite Catholic youths through faith, fellowship, leadership, and sports.

This year’s edition attracted enthusiastic participation from the parish’s sub parishes, with the day beginning with Holy Mass before the sporting competitions commenced. The event blends spiritual growth with recreational activities, reinforcing the principle that faith comes first before competition.

In the football final, Mella Red Stars produced another commanding display to overcome a determined Poyawo side 2-0 and lift the trophy for the second consecutive year. Their disciplined approach, teamwork, and clinical finishing proved decisive in front of a vibrant home crowd.

Mella also completed a remarkable double by emerging champions in the netball competition, underlining the sub parish’s continued excellence across multiple disciplines.

While some sub parishes, including UCI, Kasipodo, and Pabas, did not participate in football and netball, they were actively involved in indoor mind games such as ludo, cards, omweso, draught, and chess, ensuring that every youth had an opportunity to showcase their talents.

The tournament continues to serve as a powerful platform for evangelization, talent development, leadership growth, and peace-building among young people in the parish. Through prayer, sports, and fellowship, the event has become one of the most impactful youth initiatives within Osia Catholic Parish.

With two titles in as many years, Mella Red Stars have written another memorable chapter in the history of the Osia Catholic Parish Youths Apostolate Games and Sports, setting a benchmark for excellence and inspiring youths across the parish.
