Busia Police Arrest 7 in Intelligence-Led Operation on Custom Road

Police in Busia have arrested seven suspects following an intelligence-led operation targeting criminal networks along Custom Road ghetto on May 18, 2026.
The Territorial Police in Bukedi South Region said the operation aimed to curb phone and bag snatching, opium smoking, and simple robberies and to improve public safety in the area.
Those arrested are Kidudu, Fred Wilberforce, Wepukulu Sharif, Bandari Rashid, Abudukadhiri Abdi, Apongo R, and Sumba Yusufu.
Officers recovered opium, smoking paraphernalia, and suspected stolen items during the raid.
All suspects were transferred to CPS Busia and are in custody under SD Ref: 72/18/05/2026 for interrogation and screening.
Bukedi South Regional Police Spokesperson IP Mugwe Johnson Moses thanked the Territorial Police Commander and team for their commitment, saying the operation would help restore order and allow the community to live and work without interference.
He said more operations will continue.
