Tubur Primary School in Soroti District is expected to receive much-needed infrastructure improvements after Calvin Echodu, the Member of Parliament for Soroti City West and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (Designate), pledged support to address critical challenges affecting the school.

Echodu made the announcement on Saturday during celebrations organized to honor Bob Owiny following his election as LC5 Chairperson of Soroti District.

The event drew a large gathering of residents, education officials, cultural representatives, political leaders, and community members.

Responding to concerns raised about the school’s conditions, Echodu committed to constructing a new toilet block for boys and restoring the school’s water supply system.

The interventions are aimed at improving sanitation and ensuring reliable access to clean water for both learners and staff.

The announcement was warmly received by parents and local leaders, who described the projects as essential to creating a safer and healthier learning environment for pupils.

Elubu James, a parent with a child at the school, said the water shortage has been a persistent challenge.

“Children have struggled for a long time because the school lacks a reliable water source. Access to water is important for hygiene, health, and effective learning.

We appreciate Hon. Echodu’s commitment to restoring the water system and supporting the school,” he said.

Community elder Apio Martha also commended Echodu for his continued efforts to support communities and vulnerable groups.

“His dedication to helping people has been evident for many years, even before he joined Parliament.

I am confident that his leadership will continue to bring positive change, and the support he has promised to Tubur Primary School will benefit generations to come,” she noted.

Education stakeholders emphasized that improved sanitation facilities and access to clean water are vital for learners’ well-being and academic success.

They expressed confidence that the planned projects will enhance hygiene standards, reduce challenges faced by pupils, and contribute to better educational outcomes.

The commitments have renewed optimism among teachers, parents, and learners, who believe the proposed improvements will address some of the school’s most urgent needs.

Once completed, the new toilet block and restored water system are expected to significantly improve conditions at Tubur Primary School and support its long-term growth
