KCCA FC Open Talks to Sign Former SC Villa Midfielder Elvis Ngonde
By Skika Reporter.
KCCA FC have initiated formal discussions with midfielder Elvis Ngonde over a potential transfer following the expiry of his contract with SC Villa, sources close to the negotiations have revealed.
Ngonde is currently a free agent after completing his contract with the record Uganda Premier League champions at the end of the 2025/26 season, making him one of the most sought-after players in the local transfer market.
The versatile midfielder joined SC Villa at the start of the 2023/24 campaign from Gaddafi FC on a three-year contract and quickly became an important figure in the club’s midfield setup.
During his debut season at Villa, Ngonde played a key role in helping the Jogoos secure their first Uganda Premier League title in two decades, ending a 20-year championship drought and restoring the club’s status among Uganda’s elite football teams.
However, opportunities became increasingly limited following the appointment of Serbian coach Zeljko Kovacevic. The midfielder struggled to secure regular playing time under the new technical leadership, raising questions about his long-term future at the club.
Sources indicate that Ngonde is unlikely to extend his stay at Villa, creating an opportunity for KCCA FC to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
The Lugogo-based side is understood to be keen on adding experience and depth to its midfield department as it seeks to mount a stronger challenge for domestic honours and continental qualification.
Ngonde’s versatility, work rate, and experience in the Uganda Premier League are believed to be among the qualities that have attracted KCCA’s interest.
Beyond his club career, the midfielder has also represented Uganda at the international level. He was part of the Uganda Cranes squad that competed at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), helping the national team reach the quarter-finals of the tournament, which was jointly hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.
While discussions between KCCA and the player’s representatives are ongoing, neither club has officially commented on the negotiations.
Should the move materialize, Ngonde would become one of KCCA’s notable acquisitions ahead of the 2026/27 season as the club looks to rebuild and strengthen its squad for future competitions.
