The Bukedi Province Football Association (BPFA) has taken a significant step toward organizing the forthcoming 2026 Zonal Mini League after holding a high-level executive meeting at Hyena Caves on Tuesday.

The meeting brought together key provincial football administrators, including BPFA Chairperson Hussein Mwangu, Vice Chairperson Kebba Helon Harenna, General Secretary Wamalwa George Ivan, Treasurer Alewi Joseph, Chairperson of Referees Mukisa Umar, and Hasuli Umar Kasuja, the Vice Chairperson of Tororo DFA.

The main agenda focused on preparations for the highly anticipated Zonal Mini League, which will feature top-performing 5th Division clubs from the seven districts that make up Bukedi Province.

According to discussions held during the meeting, the allocation of slots for each district has already been determined by the provincial executive.

However, the official breakdown will be unveiled on Friday during a scheduled meeting between the Province FA leadership and District Football Association (DFA) Chairpersons and Chief Executive Officers.

The executive also agreed that clubs intending to participate in the competition will be required to pay a registration fee of UGX 200,000, with 10th June 2026 set as the deadline for registration. The competition is expected to officially kick off on 15th June 2026.

Meanwhile, the race to host the tournament remains open. The final host district will be determined during Friday’s consultative meeting scheduled to take place at Hyena Caves at 2:00 p.m.

Tororo Elites Suspension Confirmed
In a separate development, the BPFA executive confirmed the suspension of Tororo Elites FC from the Bukedi Province 4th Division League. The decision follows the club’s failure to honor three league fixtures without formal communication to the competition organizers.

As a consequence, the club will be relegated to the 6th Division in accordance with the applicable competition regulations, bringing an end to their participation in this season’s provincial campaign.

Referees Refresher Course Planned.

The meeting also resolved to organize a referees refresher training course next week. The initiative is aimed at preparing match officials ahead of the Zonal Mini League playoffs and ensuring high standards of officiating throughout the competition.

The upcoming Zonal Mini League is expected to serve as a crucial pathway for clubs seeking promotion opportunities while also showcasing the growing competitiveness of grassroots football across the Bukedi region.

With registration timelines now set and preparations gathering momentum, attention will shift to Friday’s meeting, where district representatives will receive further guidance on participation requirements, slot allocations, and hosting arrangements for the tournament.
