Three Relatives Arrested Over Murder of Kaberamaido Businessman

Police in Kaberamaido District have arrested three suspects in connection with the brutal murder of a 54-year-old businessman whose body was discovered on a village road after he failed to return home.

The deceased, identified as Oseng Robert, a resident of Okorakok A Village in Kaberamaido Sub-county, was reportedly killed on the night of June 6, 2026, at Okeratok Village.

According  Police Commander preliminary  investigations, Oseng had been involved in a long-standing land dispute with his brothers, a matter currently before court. Investigators have also established that he had allegedly received threats to his life before the incident.

Police said the victim’s wife became concerned after repeated attempts by family members to reach him by phone went unanswered.

She later discovered his body lying in a pool of blood along his usual route home and immediately raised an alarm.

A team of police officers responded to the scene and conducted preliminary investigations.

A Police K9 unit was subsequently deployed and successfully tracked a trail that led investigators to three suspects, all of whom are relatives of the deceased.

The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.

East Kyoga Regional Police Commander SP Hajji Ibrahim Saiga has condemned the killing and urged members of the public to seek lawful and peaceful means of resolving disputes, particularly those related to land ownership.

“We strongly discourage acts of violence and encourage communities to resolve conflicts through established legal channels,” Police said.

Authorities say inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the murder are ongoing, and more details will be released as investigations progress.
