The Bunyole West Archdeacon, Ven. Rev. Joel Wafuho has urged Christians to always be prepared for death, describing it as inevitable, compulsory, and unpredictable.

While preaching to hundreds of mourners during the burial of the late Jane Nedube at Mugulu Central in Busolwe Sub-county on Monday, Rev. Wafuho said preparedness for death is a biblical obligation that every believer should embrace.

Quoting Isaiah 38:1, he noted that God, through Prophet Isaiah, instructed the ailing King Hezekiah to put his house in order because his death was near.

“Death can come at any time. Christians should live lives that are pleasing to God and be prepared for their final journey,” Wafuho said.

The archdeacon also condemned Christians who neglect prayer in pursuit of earthly riches and warned against engaging in witchcraft, saying such practices distance people from God.

Speaking during the funeral service, Mr. Gershom Hirome, the deceased’s brother-in-law, described Jane Nedube as a unifier, adviser, and patient woman who remained single for more than 20 years after the death of her husband.

“She was a pillar of wisdom and unity in the family. Her patience and commitment to family values will always be remembered,” Hirome said.

The deceased’s sons, Ivan Kaibo and Bishop Ivan Mulepi Hirome, paid tribute to their mother for sacrificing to educate them despite limited financial resources. They pledged to uphold family unity and continue the values she instilled in them.

Apollo Lyada, the Prime Minister of the Bunyole Cultural Institution under the Prof. Chomi faction, praised Mr. Gershom Hirome for his generosity and contribution to the community, describing him as one of the most popular and supportive mourners in Butaleja District.

Meanwhile, former Butaleja District LCV Chairperson Michael Higenyi Bore thanked residents for entrusting him with leadership over the last five years. He called on voters to put politics aside and focus on agriculture and other productive activities that can improve household incomes and livelihoods.

The funeral attracted hundreds of mourners, including religious leaders, cultural officials, politicians, family members, and friends who gathered to pay their last respects to the late Jane Nedube.
