Butaleja Pastors Secure Prayer Meeting with Museveni in August.

Pastors from Butaleja District, under their umbrella body, the Generation Pastors’ Network, have secured a prayer meeting with President Yoweri Museveni scheduled for August at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.
The announcement was made on Friday by Pastor Fred Bahemuka of Rehoboth Christian Fellowship, Kawanda, Kampala, during a meeting with Christians at Eagles Wings Pentecostal Church in Busolwe.
According to Pastor Bahemuka, the pastors have booked the “Fountain of Honour” prayer gathering to pray with the President and also present the challenges facing pastors across Uganda, many of whom reportedly struggle with poverty and inadequate sources of income.
“We want to inform the President about the plight of pastors who continue to minister while facing serious economic hardships,” Bahemuka said.
He explained that the prayer meeting had initially been planned for June but was postponed due to concerns surrounding the Ebola outbreak.
Bahemuka urged Christians and church leaders to establish Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs) ahead of the Kololo event, emphasizing the need for financial discipline and discouraging extravagance in anticipation of any empowerment initiatives from the government.
The host of the meeting, Pastor Musa Musiho, overseer of Eagles Wings Pentecostal Church Busolwe, revealed that after the Kololo prayer gathering, pastors would proceed to Kyankwanzi for a patriotism and civic education programme.
Pastor Musiho also highlighted the need for economic empowerment among religious leaders, suggesting that pastors could benefit from transport support, including vehicles and other means of mobility to facilitate their ministry work.
He noted that poverty remains a major challenge among some clergy members, arguing that economic hardships have pushed certain pastors into undesirable practices, including begging and fraudulent activities.
The planned prayer gathering is expected to bring together pastors from across the country as they seek both spiritual renewal and discussions on improving the welfare of religious leaders.
