For years, Kataka FC have been perennial contenders for promotion to the Uganda Premier League, only to fall agonizingly short when it matters most.

As the 2025/26 FUFA Big League season reaches its dramatic conclusion, the Mbale-based side once again find themselves in a familiar position — needing victory on the final day to keep their long-awaited top-flight dream alive.

Kataka travel to Bugolobi on Saturday to face Soltilo Bright Stars at Coffee Stadium in a must-win encounter. Anything less than three points could see another promotion bid slip through their fingers and extend their wait for a historic first-ever appearance in Uganda’s top division.

The pressure is equally intense for Paidha Black Angels, who travel to Luo Stadium to take on Nebbi Central. Both clubs remain firmly in contention for the final available Uganda Premier League promotion slot, setting up a thrilling climax to the season.

For Kataka, the stakes could not be higher. The club has repeatedly come close to promotion in recent years but has often stumbled at decisive moments.

Saturday presents another opportunity to break the jinx and finally secure a place among Uganda’s football elite.

Elsewhere, several teams will be aiming to finish the season on a high as Bunyaruguru United host Kaaro Karungi in Kasese, Kiyinda Boys welcome Ntugasaze in Mityana, Onduparaka entertain Blacks Power in Arua, while Kigezi Homeboyz take on CATDA in Kabale.

Young Elephant Academy face Wakiso Giants in Nwoya, and Mbale Heroes host Iganga United at Mbale City Stadium.

With promotion dreams, pride, and final league positions all on the line, Matchday 30 promises drama across the country.

But all eyes will be on Kataka and Paidha Black Angels as they battle for the coveted final ticket to the Uganda Premier League.
