A joint meeting between the Tororo District Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Executive Committee and games teachers was held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Rock High School, with stakeholders discussing the future of school sports, preparations for Ball Games II, and upcoming USSSA leadership elections.

The meeting focused on three key agenda items: the Ball Games II programme, strategies to improve sports development in Tororo District, and preparations for the forthcoming USSSA executive elections.

Among the major resolutions reached was a renewed commitment to ensuring that schools field only bona fide students in all competitions.

Officials warned that any school found using ineligible players will face severe disciplinary action, including a minimum two-year suspension from USSSA competitions, in line with existing regulations.

In a move aimed at strengthening discipline and fairness in school sports, a new Discipline and Arbitration Committee was unveiled. The committee will be chaired by Madam Josephine Bichachi of Bukedi Secondary School, who takes over responsibility for handling disciplinary and eligibility-related matters.

The meeting also confirmed the schedule for the 2026 Ball Games II competitions in Tororo District. Netball competitions will officially get underway on June 17, while other sporting disciplines will run from June 18 to June 19.

Teams that qualify from the district championships will proceed to the regional competitions scheduled to take place in Butaleja District on June 25, 2026.

Tororo District also received a major boost after being selected to host several regional championships, including Basketball, Badminton, Boys’ Volleyball, and Volleyball, highlighting the district’s growing reputation as a sports hub in the region.

In another significant development, officials confirmed that the 2026 National Music, Dance and Drama (MDD) Championships will be hosted in Tororo District, with Tororo Girls School (TGS) and Manjasi High School serving as co-host institutions.

The resolutions made during the meeting reflect USSSA Tororo’s determination to promote integrity, discipline, and excellence in school sports while creating more opportunities for young athletes to compete at higher levels.

With Ball Games II fast approaching and major hosting responsibilities on the horizon, Tororo is positioning itself as one of the leading centres for school sports and co-curricular activities in Uganda.
