Reactions from residents dominated the campaign rally of David Calvin Echodu Echodu, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate for Soroti City West and NRM National Vice Chairperson for the Eastern Region, held at Agora Primary School in Agora Ward soroti city West.

Large crowds turned up to welcome Echodu, with many expressing happiness and renewed hope after meeting him in person.

Residents from different cells said the rally gave them an opportunity to directly interact with Echodu and hear his plans for the area.

The overwhelming turnout and excitement reflected growing support for his candidature ahead of the coming elections

Apolot Jesica, a resident of Ojikai Cell, said her main reason for attending the rally was to physically see Echodu after hearing a lot about his development programs.

She said she is confident in his ability to deliver services, noting that unlike some opposition leaders, Echodu focuses on practical solutions rather than endless complaints.

Odongo JJ, the Youth Chairperson of Agora Ward, described Echodu as a calm and respectful leader who avoids unnecessary confrontations with other politicians.

He said the voters in Agora Ward are ready to vote for him and give him time to deliver on his promises.

According to Odongo, the large numbers at the rally clearly showed that Echodu will win in Agora Ward, which he believes will lead to improved roads, better water supply, and overall transformation of the area.

Youth voices were also prominent at the rally. James, one of the footballers in Agora, appealed to Echodu to prioritize support for youth talents adding that his support of sports is evident that if elected more will come.

He said many young people involved in sports and other creative activities have been left behind due to lack of support and sponsorship from current leaders  and expressed hope that Echodu would champion their cause.

In a show of appreciation, several residents presented Echodu with gifts including chickens, a goat for Christmas, and artifacts such as a sculpture and photos and art pieces.

The residents said the gifts were meant to thank him for standing with the people of Agora even during times when he did not win elections.

Addressing the crowd, Echodu thanked the residents for the warm welcome, love, and continued support.

He pledged to work towards transforming Agora Ward through improved access to clean water, better roads, job creation, and improved schools, among other key services.

He added that the huge turnout was clear evidence that Agora Ward is “yellow” and ready to vote massively for the NRM and President Yoweri Museveni.

The rally ended peacefully, with residents expressing optimism and high expectations for development under Echodu’s leadership.
