Dokolo RDC Akech Orders Accountability Review After Claims Over NRM Village Funds
Resident District Commissioner Barbara Akech has directed an accountability review into the handling of National Resistance Movement (NRM) mobilisation funds following claims that money meant for village-level party activities may not have fully reached intended beneficiaries.
The review follows concerns raised by Dokolo Sub-county LC III Chairperson Bosco Adoko, who alleged that some villages received less than the approved amounts meant to facilitate mobilisation for President Museveni and other NRM flag bearers.
Adoko said each village was expected to receive Shs630,000, but alleged that in several cases only Shs400,000 was released.
The allegations were rejected by the district NRM leadership.
NRM Publicity Secretary Raphael Okello said the District Executive Committee (DEC) complied with party procedures and maintained that all villages signed for the full amounts.
“According to our accountability records, the money was fully issued at the district level,” Okello said.
Responding to the competing claims, RDC Akech said her office opted to establish facts through verification rather than speculation, noting that official documentation shows no shortfall at the point of release.
“The issue we are addressing is where responsibility lies after the funds leave the district. We are engaging village, parish and sub-county leaders to account for what was received and distributed,” Akech said.
She added that some complaints appear to stem from confusion about party structures and expectations, especially among individuals who were not part of the officially recognised mobilisation teams.
Akech urged party members and the public to allow the verification process to proceed without politicisation, warning that misinformation could undermine both party cohesion and public trust.
The RDC said the district security committee is overseeing the review and assured that any wrongdoers identified will be dealt with in accordance with the law and party guidelines.
