NUP Strongman Julius Ocen Dismisses Claims of NRM Deal, Affirms Kapelebyong Candidacy.
National Unity Platform (NUP) strongman and former Kapelebyong County Member of Parliament, Hon. Julius Ocen has dismissed reports suggesting that he has struck a political deal with the National Resistance Movement (NRM), describing the claims as false and misleading.
Addressing the media , Ocen said he opted to speak out to clear the air over what he termed as propaganda circulating in sections of the media.
He reaffirmed that he remains a committed member of the NUP and a duly nominated parliamentary candidate for Kapelebyong County for the 2026–2031 term.
“I want to state very clearly that I have not struck any deal with any NRM leader. I am not an NRM member and have never entered into any such arrangement,” Ocen said.
He also dismissed allegations that NRM leaders had met his relatives to negotiate his withdrawal from the race, challenging those making the claims to publicly name the individuals involved.
Ocen further rubbished reports that he had withdrawn from the Kapelebyong County parliamentary contest, insisting that he remains firmly in the race.
According to the former Amuria District LC5 chairperson, the claims are being spread by political rivals who are struggling to mobilise support on the ground.
He accused them of resorting to misinformation after failing to effectively engage voters.
“These falsehoods are born out of pressure, lack of strategy, and failure to connect with the electorate,” Ocen said.
He assured his supporters that his campaign remains on course and urged the public to disregard what he called deliberate attempts to mislead voters ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Ocen, who is also the leader of the Teso war claimant Assocaition, is very popular in Kapelebyong with the National Unity Platform confident of winning Kapelebyong County.
The rumours described as targeted propaganda to tarnish National Unity platform come at a time when FDC chairperson soroti district Daniel Eigu met president museveni ,struck a deal that saw him withdrawal from the Soroti County MP race while paying allegiance to NRM and President museveni.
