Former Minister and former Butaleja Woman Member of Parliament, Ambassador Dorothy Hyuha, has warned that she may return to active politics if the current National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearers fail to deliver meaningful development to Butaleja District once elected.

Addressing the media shortly after a Moblisation NRM meeting  in  Butaleja Dorothy Hyuha, also former Deputy Secretary General of the NRM, expressed regret that Butaleja has missed out on ministerial appointments since she lost her parliamentary seat in 2011.

She said the district’s continued absence from top government positions has negatively affected its development.

“I will not sit back and watch my people continue to miss opportunities,” Hyuha said. “If the current flag bearers disappoint through non-performance, I am ready to return to active politics to deliver Butaleja.

Despite her warning, Hyuha defended the current NRM candidates, insisting that they enjoy the full backing of President Yoweri Museveni.

She noted that it was not by chance that the president publicly embraced the candidates during his campaign visit to Butaleja on November 14 at Booma Grounds.

Elvis Weere for Butaleja LCV Chairperson, Moses Nagwomu for Bunyole East MP, James Waluswaka for Bunyole West MP, and Sarah Annet Logose for Woman MP are the flag bearers and priority fornthe party , she said

Hyuha also condemned what she described as persistent rumor-mongering in the district.

She recalled that similar falsehoods were spread about her in 2011, which she said contributed to her defeat by the late Lt. Cerinah Nebanda.

More recently, she dismissed rumors alleging that celebrations for Sarah Annet Logose’s victory had taken place in Kyenjojo District, describing them as malicious and misleading.

Addressing claims of favouritism in presidential appointments, Hyuha argued that President Museveni’s decisions are not based on tribal or marital considerations.

She said the  Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among, who was born and elected in Bukedea but is married in Buyende, as well as former Vice President Specioza Wandira Kazibwe, who was born in Iganga and represented Kigulu South despite being married in Wakiso.

These examples clearly show that the President appoints leaders based on merit and service, not where they are married,” Hyuha said.

She urged voters in Butaleja to reject divisive politics and instead support leaders who are committed to development and unity, warning that continued infighting could further marginalize the district at the national level.
