Parliament Pays Tribute to Late Ngora MP Stella Apolot Isodo.

Parliament has paid glowing tribute to the former Ngora District Woman Representative, Hon. Stella Apolot Isodo, who passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Kampala Hospital.
During a special sitting held on Tuesday, January 21, Members of Parliament described Isodo as a dedicated leader who passionately championed women’s empowerment, agriculture, and cooperative development in the Teso sub-region and across the country.
Moving the motion on behalf of the Prime Minister, the Minister of State for Fisheries, Hon. Hellen Adoa, said the late legislator had an unwavering commitment to improving the livelihoods of women and farmers.
“She formed numerous groups that empowered women through agriculture and business. She helped many understand that agriculture is not just garden work but a full value chain,” Adoa said.
Adoa added that Isodo strongly advocated for increased funding for the agriculture sector, the stocking of Lake Nyaguo, and the provision of tractors to every district.
The Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi, described Isodo as a principled politician who was not driven by convenience.
“She consistently championed the issues of women, farmers, and youth. She was a person of integrity, gentle and calm,” Ssenyonyi said, noting that she passed away at the young age of 51. He also revealed that Isodo was unable to campaign during her last election due to illness.
Hon. Lucy Akello, the Woman Representative for Amuru District, said Isodo firmly stood by her beliefs and was a strong advocate for cooperative societies. She also commended Samuel Isodo, the deceased’s husband, for campaigning on her behalf while she was bedridden.
The Minister of State for Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, Hon. Lilian Aber, described Isodo as a peace builder, saying she was intelligent, humble, and God-fearing.
Other legislators, including Hon. Milton Muwuma and Hon. Geoffrey Ekanya, praised Isodo for her cross-party collaboration and her belief in the agricultural potential of the Teso region.
Speaker of Parliament Anita Among reminded Members to clearly indicate their next of kin and beneficiaries in official documents to avoid disputes in the event of death. She revealed that Isodo had clearly documented her next of kin.
The Speaker also disclosed that the late legislator, who was diabetic, had sought treatment in India but never fully recovered after returning. She emphasized that Isodo’s death was due to a pre-existing medical condition and not political causes.
Among amended the motion to include calls for the revival of cooperative unions, support for women transitioning from subsistence to commercial farming, and value addition to agricultural products in honor of the late legislator.
Hon. Stella Apolot Isodo is survived by her husband and three children. She will be laid to rest on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at her ancestral home in Osigiria, Ngora Town Council.
