UNEB spokesperson Jennifer Kalule said on Tuesday that the scripts, which had been reported missing during routine quality control checks, were recovered on Sunday in a metallic, lockable box used to store examination materials.
“UNEB would like to assure the public that the missing PLE scripts of Integrated Science for learners of Bamure Primary School, Koboko District, have been recovered and examiners have been invited for marking and subsequent grading of the candidates,” Kalule said.
The development follows a media report that revealed negligence by both UNEB officials and the school administration, which allegedly led to the scripts being forgotten in the head teacher’s office on November 4, 2025.
The affected candidates — 18 boys and 16 girls — were initially awarded an “X” in Integrated Science as investigations into the missing scripts continued. Their parents on Monday stormed the school demanding explanations and assurance about their children’s results.
Kalule said the envelope containing the scripts was first handed to Koboko Central Police Station, which confirmed it had not been tampered with before forwarding it to UNEB. She added that the scripts will be marked and graded in time for the ongoing selection and placement exercise.
Meanwhile, police have opened a general inquiry file to investigate how the scripts were not submitted for marking. According to a police statement, the crime scene was examined by forensic officers, and some of the implicated officials have already been interrogated.
