Ugandan international Fauzia Najjemba has officially joined National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side Boston Legacy FC in the United States on a two-year renewable contract. The newly formed club announced the signing on its official social media, describing Najjemba as “adding some more fuel to our offensive firepower.”

Najjemba arrives at Boston Legacy following the expiration of her contract with Russian club Dynamo Moscow, where she recently completed her stint. She joins a growing roster that includes new signings such as Jorelyn Carabalí, Bárbara Olivieri, Ella Stevens, and Alba Cano, as the club prepares for its debut NWSL season.

“I’m really excited to join Boston Legacy. I’m grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to give my all for the team. I’m proud to represent Boston and eager to get to work,” Najjemba said.

Boston Legacy General Manager Domè Guasch welcomed the forward, noting her potential and international experience. “Fauzia has gained valuable experience in Europe and is an important part of her national team. We’re thrilled to have her on board,” he said.

The 2021 FUFA Women Player of the Year becomes the second Ugandan to play in the NWSL, following Shadia Nankya, who joined Washington Spirit before a loan spell at Dallas Trinity.

Boston Legacy is one of two new teams joining the NWSL this season, alongside Denver Summit. Najjemba has previously played for Dynamo Moscow, BIIK Shymkent, Kampala Queens, Isra Soccer Academy, and Mukono High School.
