The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has opened formal disciplinary proceedings against three Buhimba United Saints FC players following allegations that their team’s league match against Lugazi FC may have been manipulated.

Midfielder Ayebale Moses, defender Dudu Ramathan and forward Nkata Fred have each been provisionally suspended for 90 days as investigations continue into the November 8, 2025, encounter, which Buhimba lost 5-2 away in Lugazi.

According to FUFA, the suspensions were issued by the Investigatory Chamber of the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee after preliminary inquiries suggested possible irregularities linked to betting-related manipulation.

The controversial match saw Lugazi FC goals from David Bagoole, Abdul Kalanzi, Dawson Mafumu and two from Freedom Mungudit, while Buhimba’s consolation came through Sadick Moro and an own goal by Richard Ayiko.

FUFA revealed that the investigation was triggered by reports submitted to the federation shortly after the game. The governing body says initial findings point to potential breaches of Article 43 of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code, which prohibits manipulation of football matches and competitions.

The three players had earlier been suspended by their club alongside teammate David Kasaija for allegedly violating players’ obligations under the FUFA Competitions Rules.

FUFA also noted that the alleged actions could amount to criminal offences under the National Sports Act and confirmed that the matter will be referred to the Uganda Police for further handling.

The provisional suspension, imposed under Section 78 of the Ethics and Disciplinary Code, is meant to protect the integrity of the competition as the probe continues.
