Uganda Issues Urgent Advisory for Citizens in Iran Amid Escalating Middle East Conflict.

Kampala, — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda has issued an urgent security advisory to all Ugandan nationals in the Islamic Republic of Iran following the outbreak of hostilities involving the United States and Israel.

In a statement released singned by , the Permanent Secretary  Ministry of Foreign Affairs Vicent Bagiire waiswa Government said it is closely  monitoring  the rapidly evolving security situation in the Middle East with “grave concern,” and called upon all parties to exercise maximum restraint and prioritize diplomatic dialogue to prevent further escalation.

The Ministry strongly advised all Ugandan citizens currently in Iran who are able to do so to take immediate safety precautions and make arrangements to leave the country through any available and safe means.

As part of precautionary measures, the Government has withdrawn all non-essential staff from its Embassy in Tehran. Consular services are now severely limited as alternative arrangements are being put in place to support Ugandan nationals in the country.

Ugandans who remain in Iran have been urged to stay indoors, strictly follow local security directives, inform community leaders of their whereabouts, and closely monitor credible media outlets for updates.

The Ministry noted that information regarding any possible evacuation efforts will remain limited until the situation stabilizes.

In addition, the Government has advised all Ugandan citizens to suspend any planned travel to the Middle East until further notice due to the fluid security environment affecting international travel and regional airspace.

Permanent Secretary Bagiire Vincent Waiswa emphasized that the safety and welfare of Ugandan citizens abroad remains the Government’s highest priority.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to continue monitoring developments and to provide timely updates as the situation unfolds.
