Tororo muncipal Council cracks down on food Joints that Use Kaveras in Food Preparation.

Tororo municipal council authorities have today cracked weep on food joints that were still using polythene papers commonly known as “Kavera” to cover food during and after preparations.
The operation was led by the health inspectorate team of Tororo munciplal council in liason with a team from Western division.
The operation focused on the central business area, most especially in Water village, where three food joints adjacent to Thunder Sports Bar were found in breech of the public health Act amended 2023.
In these food joints, the operators were found covering food with polythene papers despite of several warnings by the health inspectors
The Tororo municipal council communication officer Mathew Okello confirmed the development, noting that the council decided to take this step to save the population from the growing cases of cancer and other health related complications as per several studies
Okello revealed stated that after several sensitization drives in the municipality regarding the use of Kavera in food preparation, several food joints operators have remained reluctantly in ending the devastating vice
Due to their defiance, the health inspectors impounded their food and drove it to munciplal council headquarters for further actions
According to Okello, the food kiosk operators have been summoned to Tororo muncipality council headquarters to record statements in regards to their mis- conducts.
These statements will later be used to inform the next step, including presenting them before the courts of law for prosecution.
Okello further noted that the munciplality will continue with these operations so that poisonous foods are completely wed out of Tororo municipality.
However, some of the food kiosk operators appeared remorseful of their actions.
Lydia Safina, one of the food joint owners, apologized to the general public for compromising their health through using toxic tools in food preparations.
