KAPELEBYONG, — Kapelebyong District authorities have dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging the presence of an Ebola suspect in the district, describing the claims as false, unfounded, and intended to cause unnecessary public alarm.
Speaking on behalf of the district leadership, Communications Officer Opio Emmanuel said neither the district health team nor surveillance personnel have received any information, report, or even a rumour regarding a suspected Ebola case in Kapelebyong.
“As a district, we have not registered, nor even received any rumour of an Ebola suspect in Kapelebyong,” Opio said. “Our surveillance team remains steadfast and vigilant, and no case of Ebola has been reported in the district.”
District authorities emphasized that health surveillance systems remain active and capable of detecting and responding to any public health threats should they arise.
The district has urged residents to remain calm while continuing to observe standard operating procedures (SOPs) aimed at preventing the spread of infectious diseases.
Community members are encouraged to maintain good hygiene practices and promptly report any suspected health concerns to local health authorities.
Opio further condemned individuals spreading misinformation about Ebola, saying such actions undermine public confidence and national health efforts.
“Any person claiming that there is an Ebola suspect in Kapelebyong is spreading false information and should be disregarded. Such misinformation is harmful and does not serve the interests of the community or the nation,” he said.
District authorities reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding public health and called on the public to rely only on verified information from official government and health sources.
