The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Soroti, Hajji Imran Muluga, has commended President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s 2026 State of the Nation Address, describing it as a clear roadmap for Uganda’s continued socio-economic transformation.
Speaking during a radio interview on IUIU Radio, Hajji Muluga elaborated on the key issues raised by the President during his address delivered on June 4, 2026, at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, which marked the opening of a new session of Parliament.
The RDC emphasized the President’s call for wealth creation, noting that Ugandans were encouraged to transition from subsistence livelihoods and fully embrace the money economy through commercial agriculture, manufacturing, services, and Information Communication Technology (ICT).
“H.E. President Museveni reiterated the importance of wealth creation at household level and urged citizens to actively participate in income-generating activities that can improve their livelihoods,” Muluga said.
On leadership and accountability, Hajji Muluga highlighted the President’s warning to leaders who fail to support government efforts aimed at fighting poverty and accelerating development in their communities.
“The President was clear that leaders must be proactive in transforming the lives of the people they serve. Those who fail to perform should either improve or step aside,” he noted.
The RDC also discussed the country’s economic progress, pointing out that the President highlighted Uganda’s continued economic growth, increased exports, infrastructure development, value addition initiatives, and fiscal discipline as key achievements and priorities of government.
Regarding the Parish Development Model (PDM), the RDC said the President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing affordable capital to households through the programme.
He noted that funding for rural parishes and urban wards would continue to support wealth creation and poverty eradication efforts across the country.
On public health, Hajji Muluga assured listeners that the government remains vigilant in managing the Ebola outbreak. He echoed the President’s message that Uganda’s health sector is well-prepared to contain the disease while ensuring that trade, business, and other economic activities continue without disruption.
He called upon residents of Soroti , Teso sub-region, and Uganda at large to support government programmes aimed at improving household incomes and national development.
“The State of the Nation Address demonstrates government’s commitment to transforming Uganda socially and economically.
Citizens should embrace the available opportunities and work together with leaders to achieve sustainable development,” Muluga concluded.
