Profile| Who Is Dominic Maloba Enyanda? The Educationist Driving School Sports in Bukedi

Dominic Maloba Enyanda has been re-elected to retain his position as the Bukedi Zonal Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Assembly representative, following elections held yesterday at the Tororo Municipal Council Chambers.

A seasoned education administrator, sports administrator and football leader, Enyanda has built a reputation as one of the region’s most experienced sports leaders, having served in several national and regional sports governance roles over the last decade.

Born on 26 June 1978, Enyanda is currently the Team Leader at Busia Border Secondary School and holds a Master of Education from the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU).

His academic journey began at Bunyadeti Primary School (1984–1990) before progressing through Lumino High School (O-Level) and Busia Secondary School (A-Level).

He obtained a Diploma in Secondary Education from the Institute of Teacher Education Kyambogo (now Kyambogo University) between 1997 and 1999, followed by a Bachelor of Education from Makerere University (2007–2011). He later earned a Master of Education from IUIU (2020–2022).

To strengthen his leadership and governance credentials, Enyanda completed a Certificate in Administrative Law at Makerere University’s College of Education and External Studies in 2023 and a Certificate in School Management and Administration from the Uganda Management Institute in 2024.

He also completed a FIFA Administration and Management Course in 2013, alongside several other professional certificates in football administration and safety.

A Career in Sports Leadership
Enyanda’s contribution to Ugandan sports administration spans both football and school sports.

His previous and current leadership positions include:
First National Chairperson of the FUFA Big League (2013–2017).

Member of the FUFA Competitions Committee (2013–2017).

National FUFA Delegate (2013–2017).

Busia Schools Delegate to the FUFA Regional Assembly (current).

Vice Chairperson, Busia District Delegate (2022 to date).

Bukedi Delegate, Vice Chairperson and Acting Chairperson (2023–2026).

President, Busia Municipality Development Forum.

Vice Chairperson, Bananda Sports and Cultural Association – Busia.

Associate Member of the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Member of the Greater Busia Lions Club.

Transforming School Sports in Bukedi
During his previous term in Bukedi Zonal USSSA leadership, Enyanda oversaw several reforms aimed at expanding participation and improving competition standards.

Among the notable achievements were the rotation of zonal games across districts—Tororo (2023), Pallisa (2024), Busia (2025) and the planned Butaleja edition (2026)—a move intended to bring school sports closer to communities across the region.

His administration also ensured equitable representation by including executive members from all seven districts within the Bukedi Zone.

Under his leadership, the zone expanded its sporting calendar beyond traditional disciplines to include Khokho, rugby, beach volleyball, beach soccer, dance sport and mind games, increasing participation opportunities for learners

Enyanda also prioritised discipline and strict enforcement of USSSA rules and regulations, helping restore confidence among schools and spectators while improving the quality of competitions.

The zone has also recorded improved performances at national level, including Busia Secondary School’s boys’ football team finishing among the country’s top 10 and a St Peter’s player emerging as the top scorer at the 2026 national championships.

Vision for the New Term
Following his re-election, Enyanda says his next term will focus on strengthening sports administration and expanding opportunities for schools across Bukedi.

His priorities include mobilising more resources from stakeholders, enforcing discipline among athletes and officials, investing in capacity building, increasing participation across all sporting disciplines, and lobbying for additional national qualification slots.

He also plans to strengthen media engagement, improve branding of zonal competitions, benchmark best practices, encourage schools to participate in a wider range of sports and promote girls’ football by encouraging schools fielding boys’ teams to also establish girls’ teams.

Other priorities include promoting weekend football leagues across the zone and building stronger working relations with the USSSA national secretariat.

With his extensive experience in education, football governance, and sports administration, Enyanda begins his new mandate with a clear agenda of strengthening school sports development and raising Bukedi’s competitiveness on the national stage.
