The Vice President of Uganda, Jessica Alupo, who also serves as the Woman Member of Parliament for Katakwi District, has rewarded 128 pupils who excelled in the recently released Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), passing in Division One.

During a function held in Katakwi District to recognize academic excellence, the Vice President—represented by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Katakwi—commended the pupils for their hard work and discipline that enabled them to achieve outstanding results in the national examinations administered by the Uganda National Examinations Board.

Delivering her message, Alupo congratulated the learners and their teachers for the commendable performance, noting that education remains a key pillar in transforming communities and uplifting households from poverty.

She used the occasion to encourage parents and guardians to invest in simple income-generating enterprises such as poultry keeping, crop agriculture, and piggery.

According to her, such ventures can provide sustainable income to support children’s education and overall welfare.

Alupo further urged families to embrace various government programs aimed at supporting small enterprises and improving household livelihoods, emphasizing that these initiatives are designed to empower local communities economically.

As part of the rewards, the Vice President offered special recognition to the top seven performers, awarding them full scholarships to study in some of the best secondary schools in Uganda.

The scholarships are intended to nurture their academic potential and enable them to pursue higher educational opportunities without financial constraints.

Local leaders, parents, and educators who attended the ceremony applauded the initiative, describing it as a strong motivation for learners to work harder and a demonstration of leadership committed to promoting education in Katakwi District.
