Tororo Leaders Call for unity & Development During Idhi Al-Fitr Cellebrations.

Leaders in Tororo District have called for unity, togetherness, and accelerated development among residents as the Muslim community marked Eid Al Fitr celebrations at Uganda Muslim Supreme council Headquarters Nagongera Road Tororo.

Speaking during the celebrations, Western Division LCIII Chairperson Manyadi Al-Jamal thanked voters for their continued support and conveyed greetings from Robert Kyagulanyi, the president of the National Unity Platform. He commended Muslims for successfully completing the holy month of Ramadan.
Tororo Municipality Mayor-elect Ochieng Bernard expressed gratitude to residents for entrusting him with leadership. He highlighted concerns over segregation within the Muslim community in the municipality and pledged to promote equal opportunities for all.
He urged residents to set aside election-related differences and instead focus on a shared goal of developing the municipality.

Similarly, Tororo Municipality Member of Parliament-elect Shyam Tanna congratulated Muslims upon completing Ramadan and pledged to work closely with the community in appreciation of their support during the recent elections.
He also committed to providing tarpaulins through the office of the district Khadi to improve worship spaces, especially during large gatherings on major celebrations.
A representative of the LC V Chairperson reiterated the district leadership’s commitment to supporting the Muslim community, noting that their backing contributed significantly to his re-election for a second term.
He assured residents of an open-door policy to address their concerns and extended Eid greetings.
Chairperson of the Muslim Council in Tororo District, who also serves as RDC Soroti District, Muran Muluga, applauded the unity demonstrated within the community.
He cited the withdrawal of a court case involving former District Khadi Sheikh Ibrahim Asante and the current District Khadi Sheikh Noor Koiré as a sign of reconciliation. He revealed that plans are underway to construct modern structures at mosque premises.

Muluga further encouraged Muslims to embrace government programs such as the Parish Development Model, noting that several women SACCOs have already benefited.
He also highlighted ongoing projects like the construction of Aturukuku Seed Secondary School and urged residents to prioritize education and poverty eradication initiatives.
District Khadi Sheikh Noor Koiré emphasized the importance of enrolling children in Muslim-founded schools to strengthen their religious foundation.
He urged the community to engage in productive work and business to combat poverty and thanked donors for their continued support, especially during Ramadan.
Sheikh Ibrahim Asante welcomed the renewed unity within Muslim leadership, describing it as the beginning of a new era that will foster development. He also called on newly elected leaders to support structured planning for community development.
