New Best Hotel Busega Faces Closure Over Pornography Allegations
By Skika Reporter
The Pornography Control Committee has issued a stern warning to New Best Hotel in Busega, stating that the facility risks closure if it fails to address ongoing allegations of facilitating explicit content.
The committee, led by Annet Kezaabu, said the hotel has repeatedly been cautioned over claims linking it to the production and facilitation of pornographic material. Despite several engagements with management, authorities say little progress has been made.
“We have engaged and warned the management several times. If there is no change, stronger enforcement action will be taken, including possible closure,” the committee said in an official statement.
New Best Hotel has long been associated with allegations of hosting paid sexual activities on its premises, raising concerns among regulators and the public. Authorities argue that such environments can contribute to broader social issues, including exploitation and the exposure of minors to harmful content.
The case forms part of a wider government crackdown on establishments suspected of promoting or enabling pornography. Officials emphasize that enforcement measures will be applied consistently across the country, regardless of the size or status of the business involved.
Parallel efforts are also being carried out by the Uganda Communications Commission, which is targeting digital platforms accused of distributing explicit material online.
Authorities say the intensified operations align with the National Ethical Values Policy, a framework aimed at promoting moral standards and safeguarding vulnerable groups, particularly children.
The government has reiterated its position that all businesses and individuals must comply with existing laws. Those found in violation risk facing closure, prosecution, or other legal consequences as enforcement efforts continue to tighten.
