Police in Tororo District have dismissed as false reports circulating online that eight Arsenal fans were arrested on Sunday, May 24, 2026, over the alleged theft of cattle linked to celebrations of the club’s Premier League win.
The viral posts claimed that the Territorial Police in Tororo had detained members of the Arsenal Executive Committee of Tororo Branch during victory celebrations and tied them to the theft of three cattle in Amagoro “A” South Village, Tororo Municipality.
Speaking on the matter, Bukedi South Regional Police spokesperson Moses Johnson Mugwe says the information is entirely fabricated.
Mugwe confirms that the situation across Bukedi South remained calm throughout the weekend’s celebrations, with no incidents of arrest or livestock theft linked to Aresnal celebrations reported to police.
Earlier reports had alleged that arrests were made in the early hours of Sunday morning following investigations into the disappearance of the animals.
Police say no such operation took place.
Police urged residents to disregard the false claims and avoid sharing unverified information online.
