Aspiring Match Officials Complete FUFA Beginners Referees Training in Busia
The FUFA Beginners Referees Course organized by Busia District Football Association (Busia DFA) in partnership with Youth Environment Service has successfully concluded at Madibira Primary School, with participants now awaiting the release of their examination results.
The training program brought together aspiring referees from Busia District and neighboring areas, providing them with comprehensive knowledge of football officiating, including the Laws of the Game, match control, positioning, disciplinary procedures, communication, fitness, and professionalism.

Over the course of the training, participants engaged in both classroom sessions and practical field exercises designed to equip them with the skills required to officiate football matches at district, provincial, and national levels.
The course culminated in final examinations conducted today, marking the completion of the training phase and the beginning of the assessment process as participants eagerly await their results.
The training was overseen by experienced football administrators and refereeing instructors led by:
✅ Asuman Kityo – Course Instructor
✅ Kayiwa Abdallah Salim – Chairman Referees, Eastern Region
✅ Wangira Denis – Chairman, Busia DFA
✅ Hussein Mwangu – Chairman, Bukedi Province Football Association
Speaking during the closing session, football leaders commended the commitment shown by the participants and emphasized the importance of quality officiating in promoting fair play, discipline, and integrity within the game.
The initiative is regarded as a significant step towards strengthening grassroots football structures in the region by increasing the pool of qualified referees available to officiate competitions while creating opportunities for young people to pursue careers in football officiating.
As participants await the release of their results, there is optimism that the knowledge and experience gained from the course will contribute to the continued growth and professionalization of football across Busia District and the wider Bukedi region.
