Tragedy at Soroti Market as 20-Year-Old Falls to His Death.

A young man has died after falling from the third floor of Soroti Main Market on the evening of April 9, 2026.

The incident, which occurred at around 7:40 PM, was confirmed by East Kyoga Regional Police Commander Ibrahim Saiga. The deceased has been identified as Okiring Mark, estimated to be about 20 years old.

Early reports suggest that the victim fell from the upper level of the busy market, though the exact circumstances surrounding the fall remain unclear.

Witnesses at the scene acted quickly and rushed him to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital in an effort to save his life.

Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival by medical staff.

Police have since opened an investigation to determine what led to the incident, including whether it may have been a suicide or if other factors were involved.

ACP Saiga urged the public to stay calm and refrain from speculation as inquiries continue, noting that more information will be provided once investigations are concluded.

The tragedy has shocked traders  wondering what could have caused  Mark to jump to his death.

Police  are appealing to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to come forward
