Gunman Nabbed, Weapon Recovered in Soroti Murder Case.

Police in Soroti have arrested the suspected Shooter in the fatal shooting of mobile money agent Patricia Kokunda, marking a major breakthrough in the ongoing investigation.
In a statement, the East Kyoga Regional Police Commander, Hajji Ibrahim Saiga, confirmed that the suspect has been identified as Emenyu David, also known as “Lipongo.” His arrest brings the total number of suspects in custody to five.
The others include Alex Okello, Felix Onego, Simon Epeu alias Iboda—who was arrested in Anyara, Kalaki District—and Alfred Elacu, who was apprehended in Amuria District.
The prime suspect, believed to be the gunman, was arrested on April 10, 2026, in Abim District, where he had reportedly gone into hiding. On April 11, 2026, he led police to Akaikai Village in Soroti District, where the suspected murder weapon was recovered.
Police also recovered a motorcycle believed to have been used in the commission of the crime, cash amounting to 3,500,000 Ugandan shillings suspected to be proceeds of the robbery, and clothing allegedly worn during the attack. Authorities further revealed that the firearm used is believed to have been sourced from South Sudan.
The developments mark a significant step in the investigation into the aggravated robbery and fatal shooting of Kokunda, which occurred on April 3, 2026, in Soroti City.
Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest station. Investigations are ongoing, and further updates will be provided
